The latest to join the list of behind-the-screen film artists who turn into actors is Pa. Vijay. The ace lyricist has donned the greasepaint for Gnabagangal, a film which has a very good and different storyline. Sree Devika, who has acted in Ramakrishna, Anbevaa and is acting in Sarithram, is the film’s heroine.

The movie Gnabagangal, in which National Award winning lyricist Pa Vijay plays the lead, is based on a real life story.

In a touching short film that was screened to journalists, the lyricist spoke about his late friend Kathiravan, with whom he shared a room during his early days in the industry, and Kathiravan’s love affair with Meera, who was their neighbour.

“Kathiravan, who believed in socialism, went back to his native place with a broken heart after he was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. After a few months, when I went to meet him, he was no more. However, I found a diary in my room that belonged to him. The incidents that he recorded in his diary have been made into this film,” said Pa Vijay and added, “This film will keep his memories alive.”

Gnabagangal is not the first film for Pa. Vijay, who was supposed to debut in Thai Kaviyam, a film launched by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi a year ago. But even before it could be completed, he got the offer of playing lead role of Gnabagangal. Introduced in Gnanapazham in 1996, Pa. Vijay has written more than 1200 songs for 600 films! Interestingly, he is perhaps the only actor who had won a National Award even before he became an actor! Vijay has won National Award for the song “Ovoru Pookalume” of Autograph.

Jeevan, who debuted in Kollywood as a cinematographer through Kokki, is the director of this Gnabagangal film. He has already directed Mayilu.

Bayam Ariyan movie produced by Jayanathi pictures is full of new faces. Bhayam Ariyaan directed by Pradheesh. Kerala actress Sanuja, the heroine opposite Mahesh Kumar who is debuting. A former production assistant, Mahesh worked in London before landing in this role. Also another pair is Devikripa and Kishore. Boys fame Manikandan play an important supporting role. The movie has Ponammbulam in a big role and has been shot mostly in a graveyard. Another new find is the music director PC Sivan. Saravanan handles the camera. The film’s crew stayed in a cementary for 10 days for a shooting sequence.

JS 24 Frames Presents Thambi Vettothi Sundaram

Thambi Vettothi Sundaram is produced by J. Sentilkumar on behalf of TJS 24 Frames.

As the name indicates, the storyline is entirely different. The story is based on the real life incidents that took place in Kanyakumari, ten years ago.

‘There are two heroes in this film. Karan and Story! We have presented the storyline without distorting the authenticity, without any ornamentation, without any cinematic shade. Each and every frame will demonstrate reality’ says Director V.C. Vadivudayan.

‘After deciding on the film, we listened to stories from not less than fifty to sixty persons. None of their stories touched me deeply except this’ says Producer Senthilkumar.

What is the story?

In Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari is a significant district in the sense that it is an abode of educated masses. Likewise, the place is well known for crime rate as well. What is the basis for this contradiction? Does education induce one to commit crime? What is the driving force that takes youths from this district to such an extreme situation? Generations after generations, youths born in this place are swallowed by this evil spirit.

The hero too is swallowed by this evil spirit. But what drives him to break the spell of curse forms the crux of the story.

‘The Director, who invited me to write dialogues for this film, narrated the story for close to three hours — not just by describing the frames but performing them, as well. I left without uttering a single word. I can feel the heat of the story settling deep inside me and captivating me to the core. It took two full days for me to settle down to normality’ says Pa Raghavan, the dialogue writer. Besides this, Pa. Raghavan has written dialogues for Karan’s Kanakavel Kaaka, which is going to be released soon.

Vairamuthu and Vidhyasagar have joined hands to create a celebratory and soothing musical treat.

A highly professional team comprising of Karan, Anjali, Saravanan, Kanja Karuppu, Vennira Aadai Moorthy, Cameraman Anjaneyalu, Editor Suresh Ars, Stunt Master Kanal Kannal have been formed to deliver superior output. First shooting session took place at Kanyakumari – Kerala border for 35 days.

Director Vadivudayan has presented the movie without compromising on the nativity and the reality. Vadivudayan is a student of Shaaji Kailash, a veteran Malyalam Director. ‘Sundaram is not an individual. He is an epitome of the present day youth population. Through him, I bring out the story of youths who live in a particular community, their happiness, sorrow, celebration, predicaments, troubles and the intensity of their progress to solution. By depicting Sundaram, I depict the heart and soul of one of the major problems that faces the youths.’ says Vadivudayan.

Karan is confident too. ‘I am sure this is going to be a milestone in my career’.

Nandaa who started off his career in Mounam Pesiyadhe and Punnagai Poove and has six movies to his credit so far with Urchagam his latest flick released a year ago is doing two films simultaneously which are produced by Director Shankar for his S pictures.

This is the first time Director Shankar is giving an oppurtnity for an actor to a play a lead role in two movies and that is Nandaa. Shankar who has always opting for fresh talents and has got it right always and has got Nandaa this time for his projects.

Why Nandaa?.At first Nandaa was signed by him for “EERAM” directed by his associate Arivazhagan and both were hundred percent satisfied by his performance and dedication. Nandhaa with Sindhu Menon form the lead of the film Eeram. When Naga of Marmadesam fame, who is first time into big screen was being roped in for the next venture Aanandhatha Purathu Veedu and he was in search of lead roles. Naga preffered Nandaa whom he has seen him in an internationally acclaimed movie Aanivear wanted him and when he had a discussion with Shankar regarding the cast Nandaa’s name was the only one on Naga s list.Seeing Nandaa’s performance in Eeram ,Shankar did not have a second thought of casting him too.

Nandhaa with chayasingh & Baby Aryan are the cast of the film Aanandha purathu Veedu.

Nandaa who has been proving himself right from his first movie Mounam pesiyadhe is now in the right hands of Shankar of whom he thinks will put him in the top spot.

Shaam’s Telugu career starts with a ‘Kick’!

Kick Shaam’s Telugu film

Shaam, the actor known for his charming looks and acting talents has entered Tollywood with a bang through his latest film ‘Kick’.

Directed by Surendar Reddy, the film has Ravi Teja and Ileana as co stars of Shaam.

The film was released all over Andhra Pradesh last week with a fantastic opening and till now it maintains good collection in all the centers. Even in the week days, most of the theaters find 95 percent attendance and the producer and distributors running to banks with their pass books happily!

Shaam’s action scenes get thunderous applause from the audience, as the box office reports suggest.

This is purely a reward for his hard and sincere efforts to create the scenes with perfection.

Remember, few weeks before, when Shaam was injured very badly during the shoot of ‘Kick’, the director and the whole unit advised him to take rest. But Shaam refused for that and continued his till the successful completion of that portion.

After seen Shaam’s performance and dedication in this film, director Surendar Reddy promised him to give his next film.

To keep this promise, the directors now awards his next film to Shaam and give him a big opportunity to perform as a solo hero in this yet to be titled film.
So, the career of Sham has been ‘Kick’ starts in Tollywood !

Shaam is also playing movies like Antony Yaar, Sariya Thavara, Agam puram in Tamil and a film in Hindi.
